I don't know if anybody else has a child or children that are worried/curious about the Large Hadron Collider. If they have, here are some sites that might help.
www.particledetectives.net/html/main.htmlThis is a LHC project simulator where you can try to recreate the right conditions for the experiment. It asks for name, school & location so I just put my name, home educating parent and my town and it let me carry on with everything.
www.so.stfc.ac.uk/publications/publorderform.aspxThis site has free resources on astronomy and particle physics (including LHC) aimed at ten to eighteen year olds. Some of the resources can only be downloaded but a lot can be sent to you through the post (still completely free and they arrive very quickly). They have a lovely pack called "Hands On Universe" which includes a large poster showing the planets and their locations (this has been updated since the de-classification of Pluto, I'm only putting this because Pluto losing it's status as a planet really upset my son!).
