Hello,

My name is Rebecca, and like most people who have joined this forum, found it through browsing the internet to find out more information inrelation to aspergers.
I have a four year old son, who over a short period of time (since January) has started expriencing severe difficulties both at home and school with his behavioural patterns, anxiety and stress. Although my son has not formally been diagnosed with asperges, we are currently in the system via our local Child, Adoloscent and Mental Health service and it does seem that aspergers is a strong possibility. I have therefore been trying to read up a much as possible to establish how I can support my son. I know the formal diagnosis of aspergers can be a long process to achieve, and whilst I am trying desperatly to be patient and work with the NHS, pressure is building in relation to my sons school as they are not happy about my sons behaviour within the classroom environment and are making things as difficult as possible for us at the moment.

I am desperate for advice and support on how to support my son, but at the moment, I feel trapped in the middle of a system that understandably take time, but in the process my son is going unsupported and neither my son or myself and husband have any idea of how he is feeling.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Welcome to the forum.

When you ask about how to support your son, do you mean inside or outside of the school system?

You could be in for a long wait because many psychologists are reluctant to perform an official diagnosis of AS on children younger than 6 or 7 years old.

Are you proposing to start home education or will your son continue to attend school for the foreseeable future?
