We didn't attend HESFES this year but we were informed about the establishment of The Home Educated Youth Council by a number of HE teenagers. It will be interesting to see how this organisation develops and its future achievements.

Home educated children challenge Badman review

The Home Educated Youth Council (HEYC) has been formed by young people who felt their opinions had not been heard during the review. Badman's independent review recommended registration for home educators and greater monitoring of their teaching methods. It also suggested local authorities should have the right to speak to each child without the presence of their parents, if deemed appropriate. I shall be keeping an eye on this organisation. I wonder if there will be many members with AS.
