Why does the IT and engineering press overlook home education?

Why is there a lack of mention of home education on IT and engineering news sites? Countless writers and commentators bemoan the UK education system for failing to teach STEM subjects effectively but there is hardly anybody from industry or the media who even seems to be aware that HE exists and could be used as a solution to providing workers with the right skills and knowledge.

The silence about Asperger Syndrome on IT and engineering news sites is absolutely deafening except when it applies to Gary McKinnon. Why?

If I had to answer this question I would say that much of the IT and engineering community are unaware of both AS and HE. The lack of comments on both subjects rules out that the journalists are unaware or failing to report them. My advice is to keep commenting on articles because that will help to raise awareness. Try to include links to prominent AS and HE websites as well.
