The Immortal

The Immortal was one of my favourite games for the Sega Megadrive. It is a very unusual 3D arcade adventure that involves some gory violence in places. I was playing it on Christmas 1991 much to my grandparents disgust.

Game cartridges turn up on ebay every now and then, but if you don't have a Sega Megadrive then download the ROM image and a Megadrive emulator that runs on a PC.

Enjoy the game but do not read the runes!

My son has downloaded The Immortal and has been playing it recently. I will have to say it is quite gruesome in places such as fights with goblins and trolls. Despite this it is quite an unusual game with lovely sound effects which add atmosphere. The puzzles required to complete each level are challenging and the enemies appear to get nastier as the game progresses. My son's biggest criticism is that certain procedures such as when using the magic carpet and the worm sensor require a high degree of dexterity and co-ordination that could be problematic for people with dyspraxia.

Hold the amulet up to the light but do not read the runes!
