hi :D i am mother of 2 girls, age 8 and 5. my younger child is a textbook case of an AS girl. she has not been diagnosed. I stopped worrying about getting her diagnosed when i deregistered her from school.

My recent reading has lead me to the reseach showing that girls and boys present AS differently. With the problems that girls seem to develop in later life when undiagnosed i am now really keen to get a diagnosis for her.

I am also finding that while the HE side of things is not a problem, and is going swimmingly. I am finding just managing the AS is a full time job in itself. Especially as she is getting bigger. when she was smaller and freaked getting on a bus i could pick her up and lift her on and hold her. she is now too big for that. recently a stranger tried to lift her onto a busy bus, when she freeked in the doorway. she went ballistic and screemed the whole journey. i also am becoming more annoyed by peoples tuts and funny looks as they think she is just badly behaved. :(

the final thing is my older daughter is finding it more and more difficult to understand why her sister does the things she does. i have found a book that i would like to get to help her understand a little. its called 'can i tell you about aspbergers syndrome?' i wondered if anyone had seen it and if it would be usefull for a bright, litterate 8 yr old. :?:

Just reading through some of the posts it seems that a lot of people feel quite isolated on the AS front and some even the HE front. maybe a section where people could put which area the live in and if there are any he groups or as groups in their area would be good.

A warm welcome on a rather cold evening.

Several new developments are taking place on this website and next year we aim to convert it into a resource centre for home educating children with AS. It will include a list of HE groups and another list of AS support groups. Another proposal, once we get a sufficient number of members, is to have a section for meetings and events in the real world.

The forum software has now been modified to include a field for the location of a member. New members are required to enter in their location when they register. Existing members can enter in their location by first going to the User Control Panel then by clicking Profile under Options to reveal a box to enter their location into. To find out the location of a member, simply click on their name or look at the list of members.

If there is anything else you are interested in then please let us know.
