my dd is undiagnosed. i am awaiting appointment at the moment. as her parent and sister to 3 autistic brothers i informed the school when she started that she is almost certainly autistic on some low level. and she had been refered and we were waiting to see someone. they basically told me i was mad, they have autistic children in the school and she was fine. on her last day 2 weeks in. the teacher wasn't there (i later found out this was already planned) :x so they had a sub. :x then they took them to the hall for the 1st time! to do pe for the 1st time! the other autistic boy in the class who was quite servere, (no speach). threw himself on the floor and started screaming. and my dd shut down. It was at that point i took her hand and left. :D

Even though i explained about her needing a plan and not deviating from the plan and letting her know what is coming up next. they felt they knew better. After all im just the crazy parent who has managed her for the last 4 1/2 years. Do they really think i would go through all this every day if it really wasn't necessary?

Teachers and LA officials almost always think they know best. It's always been the case and was even worse back in the 80s before the internet existed and HE was very rare and largely unheard of.
