Hi all
This might be something everyone but me knows already but I asked our Library Service (we're in Cumbria)to set out what help they gave to Home Educators, have posted it below. Regards,MazQuote:
As a home educator do you find it difficult to get the books you need? Then your local library might be able to help.
Cumbria Libraries has a home educator ticket, which you take out in your own name on top of any library card you may already have. This allows you to borrow up to 40 books at any one time. You can keep them out for up to 8 weeks, and no overdue fines are charged. On top of this you can borrow a story sack for 1 week. To get a home educator ticket just ask at your local library.
Do remember that it is free to request books. So if the library you use has no books in on the subject you are covering they will be able to order them in for you from other libraries, or keep them to one side when their own books are returned.
Every library in Cumbria has PCs for use by the public, and people aged under 19 can use these for up to an hour a day free of charge. All we ask is that they have their own library card, and that a parent or guardian signs a form giving permission for under 16s to use them. They can then use the computers for education or leisure interests. They can even have up to 5 pages a day printed free for education purposes.
